Naples – Nov 2018

Naples has gifted two things to the world: pizza and a canvas for graffiti. I’m not sure if the crisp sloppy pizzas currently in vogue are anything like the ones that started the legend of their birth there. But they were good. And crisp. And sloppy.
Gino Sorbillo’s famous pizza restaurant. Our host, who directed us here, said not to worry about the line, because they have two ovens. This is the line, like sardines in a can are in a line.

I might call this a typical old-city Neapolitan street, but there is no graffiti. Which is why I took this picture. Friends later commented on how the graffiti in Rome surprised them. That’s because they didn’t go to Naples.
Piazza del Pebiscito as the golden hours of late afternoon descend.
The Bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius resting beyond. We cut our time in Naples from a planned four days to two. It’s a bit of a why-bother city, but we wouldn’t be able to say that if we hadn’t gone. Besides, we do like pizza.
